Investigations commence into shootout between robbers and Denkyira Akwaboso residents
One of the robbers, identified as Attah was recognized as a known armed robber who was already on the Diaso Police wanted list.
Police in the Central Region are investigating a bloody confrontation that occurred on Friday, 3rd September 2021, which left some five suspected robbers dead at Denkyira Akwaboso in the Upper Denkyira West municipality.
Central Region Police PRO, Inspector Evans Isaac Ettie revealed that the Diaso District Police Command received information at about 6:15 am that a group of armed robbers had attempted to rob some residents of Denkyira Akwaboso.
However, some of the residents engaged in a shootout with the robbers resulting the death of five of the suspected robbers.
Two other suspects, a male and a female managed to escape in the process. After examining the bodies, the police found that all the deceased persons had sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds on them.
The police also retrieved two locally manufactured guns and fourteen empty cartridges at the crime scene.

The bodies have since been sent to the Sefwi-Bibiani government hospital mortuary for preservation, identification and final autopsies.
