The current Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. K.T.Hammond has been cited for contempt of court in the Gyakye Quayson case.
According to the court document, Hon. K.T.Hammond, who is also an MP, is said to have said in a July 4 interview with a TV station that the accused in the case, is guilty and will be jailed.
The accused, James Gyakye Quayson however deems the comment as violating his right to a fair trial.
Further, he avers that the said comment by Mr Hammond is in contempt of the court because they seem to prejudice the court's processes.
Also, Mr Quayson notes that Mr Hammond's comment, undermines lawful processes, seek to bring the judicial process into disrepute.
Additionally, he indicates that by the comment, the MP for Adansi Asokwa is brazenly usurping the powers of the trial judge.
Mr Quayson is thus praying the court to bring the honourable member to the court to be tried for same and sentenced if found guilty.
