The General Legal Council (GLC) has sued a private legal practitioner, Kwame Fosu-Gyeabour, at the High Court seeking the revocation of his 2024 Solicitors Practice License.

In a motion, the council avers that the said solicitors license purportedly issued to the lawyer for this year, could only be ‘a mistake, obtained by fraud or in error.’

Per a notice dated May 1, 2023, the GLC suspended Lawyer Gyeabour for twelve months on three counts pursuant to Rule 2(2) of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969( L.I. 613).

You may recall also that the lawyer in question has recently filed a suit against the GLC and the Chief Justice, averring, among others, that he is being denied an audience by the courts irrespective of the fact that he had paid all his fees and gotten his solicitor's license renewed for 2024.

However, in its affidavit deposed to by Franklina Gesila Adanu, the General Legal Council (GLC) notes that lawyer Fosu-Gyeabour has surreptitiously gotten his license renewed despite a pending petition on the same matter before it.

It adds, therefore, that it is wrongful and illegal for him to turn around to obtain a valid license for the 2024 calendar year, even though he had several pending issues.

The GLC is thus per the motion seeking an order revoking and/or suspending the 2024 solicitors license in the name of Lawyer Kwame Aning Fosu-Gyeabour.
