Ghana School of Law SRC launches 63rd Law Week Celebration

This year’s Celebration will be on the theme, “The Future of law practice in Ghana; Innovation and Technology, key to global demand for Efficient and robust legal advice in a contemporary world.”

The Students Representative Council(SRC) of the Ghana School of Law has launched its 63rd Law Week Celebration at Accra main and the Kumasi campuses respectively.

The launch was marked with clean-up exercises held at the Makola market in Accra and the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi with blood donation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

This year’s Celebration which will be on the theme, “The Future of law practice in Ghana; Innovation and Technology, key to global demand for Efficient and robust legal advice in a contemporary world,” will have in attendance, the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer; UN resident Coordinator, Charles Abani, the Suriname Ambassador to Ghana and the first Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s parliament.

Speaking on the theme during the exercise, the President of the Students Representative Council, Odupong Agyapong Atta-Agyapong emphasized the need for legal practitioners and patrons in Ghana to prioritize new programs and get used to technological tools to make them relevant in the wake of the wave in the world today.

In attendance also were other SRC Executives including the vice presidents, Stacey Sefa Freduah and Darlington Osei Dwamena; Organising Secretary, Conrad Whittal; Treasurer, Albert Anamogski among others.

THE LAW WEEK CELEBRATION

The Celebration will see the SRC of the school host its first-ever Diplomatic and Foreign Affairs Forum on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

This novel program will offer the students a rare opportunity to interact will Diplomats such as the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer; UN resident Coordinator, Charles Abani, the Suriname Ambassador to Ghana, Fidelia Grand Galon and the first Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s parliament, Joe Osei Wusu.

A key component of this year’s event will be the launch of the SRC’s first-ever Volunteering platform(website) which will seek to empower the student body to partner with governmental institutions locally and internationally to undertake volunteering work.

Added to the above is the fact that Students of the Ghana School of Law will through this initiative be allowed to make a positive impact in their communities with their knowledge and skills.

Other activities lined up for the Celebration are; Inter campus Moot Court competition, finals of the Intercampus sports competition, and more.
