Four granted bail after arrest over COVID-19 breaches at Christ Embassy’s event

Four persons facing prosecution for the mass breach of COVID-19 safety protocols during a Christ Embassy event at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre’s Fantasy Dome, have been granted bail.

The four include three members of the Christ Embassy Church and a manager of the Fantasy Dome.

The accused persons are Alex Asomani, Wilson Delali Agyeman, Kumi Nutifafa and Edmond Dapaah.

They have been charged with three counts of failing to comply with the restrictions imposed.

The court granted the four accused persons bailed to the tune of GHS80,000 each with two sureties; each earning not less than GHS1,400 and must either be a public or civil servant, or a staff of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.

The fourth accused, however, does not suffer a cap on the earnings of the sureties to be presented.

The accused persons are to reappear in court on 24th May 2021.

Police locked up the Fantasy Dome after news of the event broke.

The controversial event came off on May 2 and was dubbed “Pneumatica Night.”

Videos of the event went viral and showed maskless congregants gathered with no evident adherence to public gathering protocols.

The event was widely condemned with the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) asking for the immediate prosecution of the leadership of the Christ Embassy Church Ghana for allowing its members to flagrantly breach COVID-19 safety protocols
