The Attorney-General Godfred Dame yesterday inaugurated the first office complex for the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region.

Funded through the internally generated funds of both the Registrar Generals Department and the ORC, the three-story facility, with a total of 34 offices will serve areas in the Ashanti, Western, Oti, and Eastern Regions.

In remarks, Attorney-General Dame said the ORC has the potential to be a formidable force in the fight against corruption, adding that the agency must be firmly established in all regions across the country.

He also noted that land had been acquired for the construction of the ORC's headquarters in Accra and that the project will commence in September.

The Office of the Registrar of Companies was set up under the Companies Act 2019, Act 992, establishing it as an entity outside the Attorney-General’s Department.

Established specifically in August 2021, the ORC oversees all issues of business registration and licensing.
