The Accra High Court has re-ordered accused persons in the treason case involving the CEO of the Citadel Hospital, Dr. Mac-Palm, and nine others to file their disclosures by January 27 or face the consequences.

On Monday, when the court sat, the accused persons pleaded for more time to file their disclosures after failing to comply with an order made by the court six months ago.

However, the 3-member Court of Appeal panel with additional responsibilities as High Court Justices was not happy about the failure to comply with their earlier order noting that only two of the accused persons had applied for a Stay of Proceedings.

They added that the two applications filed by counsels for Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo and Colonel Samuel Gameli do not stop the proceedings and that it would meet with the accused persons every Monday to Wednesday as agreed earlier.

On their part, counsel for the five accused persons explained to the court the reason for their failure citing the fact that some of their witnesses live far away from Accra.

The Court then ordered them to file their disclosures on the above-stated date and adjourned to February 1, 2023, for Case Management.

Dr. Mac Palm, Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital, Donyo Kafui, blacksmith, BB, Freight Manager, Johannes Zikpi, Signaller with the Ghana Armed Forces, Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) Esther Saan, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, Corporal Sylvester Akanpewu, Lance Airforce Corporal (LAC) Ali Solomon, Colonel Kojo Gameli and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Agordzo are being tried over varied alleged crimes including conspiracy to commit a crime, high treason, possession of weapons and abetment of crime.

They have all denied the offense and are currently on bail.
