EOCO, Police arrest Nigerian human trafficking syndicate in Accra

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Ghana Police Service yesterday arrested 49 Nigerian nationals over suspected human trafficking and cyber-crime activities.

In a statement, EOCO said 47 of the suspects were males, while 2 were females between the ages of 18-34.

"Following the arrest and subsequent screening of the suspects, it came to light that 45 of the individuals were victims of human trafficking whilst four were the traffickers. The rescued victims have been repatriated to Nigeria to reunite with their families whilst the four traffickers namely; Godstine Omoruyi, Junior Nosa Omoruyi, Marvelous Omoruyi, and Evbuomwan Idowu have been arraigned before the court.

In all, 70 laptop computers, 2 saloon cars, 51 mobile phones, 9 internet modems, and other gadgets were recovered from their hideout during the operation,” the statement detailed.
