A joint team of police, military and immigration service personnel have arrested 19 Nigerians at Akuse in the Eastern Region.

According to a police report, the personnel were on an operation dubbed “Motherland” when they arrested the suspects on board VW Crafter bus with registration number GR-5314-21.

Security agencies in Ghana have increased intelligence and vigilance following reported jailbreak in neighbouring Nigeria.

The reports indicated that over 1,000 inmates escaped jail after some gunmen stormed the prison and freed them.

But Ghanaian security personnel assured that the country’s borders are secured.

The communication also indicated that the arrested suspects have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further interrogation.
