Customs Division(Ho): Total tax revenue of GHC 1,452, 206.56 collected between Jan and June 2021 unaccounted for
Pursuant to the above, an investigation was carried out by management, and the Accounts Officer was transferred to the Ho Tax Office.
Tax Revenue totaling GHC 1, 452, 206.56 collected between January and June 2021 by Emmanuel Antwi-Agyei at the Batume Junction Station of the Customs Divison of the GRA between January and June 2021 was unaccounted for.
Pursuant to the above, an investigation was carried out by management, and the Accounts Officer was transferred to the Ho Tax Office.
This was revealed by the Auditor General in its 2021 Annual General’s Report for Ministries, Departments, and other Agencies.
According to Regulation 50 of the Public Finacial Management Regulations, 2019(L.I. 2378), all public money collected shall be paid in gross into the Public Funds Accounts and disbursement shall not be made from the money collected except as provided by an enactment.
The Auditor General has thus recommended that the Sector Commander immediately recovers the amount from Emmanuel Antwi-Agyei and be sanctioned, failing which the Sector Commander and Regional Accountant be held liable.
