The Takoradi Habour Circuit Court has rescheduled the case management of the matter involving the Takoradi woman who is accused of faking her kidnapping and pregnancy, to December 14th, 2021.

The case management was initially scheduled for today, November 11th, 2021, however, the court couldn’t sit because the judge had a conference.

“Today, Thursday, was for case management, as was stated. The prosecution has provided us with their documents, so the disclosures have been done. We were coming for the case management but unfortunately, the court could not sit because there is a conference. We have taken a date, 14th December. Surely, I believe by that time we should have the case management conference,” Philip Fiifi Buckman, the lawyer for the accused said.

The accused, Josephine Panyin Mensah is currently on bail. She was charged with deceiving public officers contrary to section 251 (B) of the Criminal Offences Act and Publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic contrary to section 208 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act.

In September, Josephine Panyin Mensah, alleged to have been nine months pregnant, was reported to have been kidnapped while on a dawn walk.

She was found a week later at Axim in the Western Region without her alleged pregnancy or baby.

According to police investigations, two separate medical tests conducted on Josephine at different hospitals proved that she was never pregnant.

In a statement on September 24, 2021, the police say Josephine Panyin Mensah, had confessed to neither being pregnant nor ever being kidnapped.

Josephine’s relatives and neighbours however disagreed with the report of the Ghana Police Service.

She however pleaded not guilty in her first appearance in court on September 27, 2021.
