Court issues bench warrant against former Yendi NPP executive over forgery

The Yendi Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency secretary, Mr. Fusheini Bawa Zakaria over allegations of account falsification.

The bench warrant was issued by the court presided over by his Honour, Anthony Aduku-Aidoo after Mr. Bawa Zakaria failed to appear before the court today, May 12, 2022.

According to the statement of offense, the former NPP executive is being charged for falsification of accounts, contrary to section 140 of the Criminal Offences Act.

He is accused to have allegedly forged the signature of former treasurer, Mohammed Mustapha and withdrew an amount of GH¢53,000 from the party’s account at the National Investment Bank branch in Yendi.

The police prosecutors indicated in their particulars of offence that the exhibit cheque and specimen signature samples have been forwarded to the Police Forensics Department to determine whether it's genuine or otherwise. 

The case has also been adjourned to May 19, 2022.
