Court grants bail to seven in Western Togoland case
The accused persons who are part of some 46 persons standing trial for 12 charges including participating in prohibited organizations pleaded not guilty to participating in the activities of the prohibited group.
The Criminal Court Division of the Accra High Court has granted a collective bail of GH¢ 2.8 million to seven members of the Western Togoland Restoration Front.
Each of them has however been admitted to a bail bond of GH¢ 400,000 with two sureties to be justified.
They are Ernest Dzitor, Samuel Yao Fiagbedzi, Richard Doglo Ametepe, Prosper Avumenyi, Benjamin Kplevi, Isaac Kwesi Afeku, and Richard Dzri.

The case has been adjourned to November 25, 2021.
On September 25, 2020, the group dressed in Western Togoland T-shirts and armed with guns and cutlasses, went amok and blocked roads. They burnt lorry tyres in the middle of the roads and prevented people from accessing them. They also raided police stations at Mepe, Aveyime, and other parts of the Volta region.
A couple of weeks ago, the leader of another group, Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF), that has been pushing for the secession of Western Togoland, Mr Charles Kormi Kudjordji, popularly called Papavi Hogbedetor, died. He was 87.
