The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ) has acknowledged receipt of a petition presented to them on Monday by the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

In a letter signed by the Director in charge of Anti Corruption, Stephen Azantilow, the Commission states that; ‘it is receiving attention.’

The MP has made several allegations against an Executive Council member of the National Cathedral Board, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng upon which he submitted a petition to the Commission.

He alleges among others, a conflict of Interest in the dealings of the man of God relative to his payment of the sum of GHS 2.6 million from the National cathedral account to his own company for no work done.

Also, Mr. Ablakwa talks about a ‘scandalous’ transfer of GHS 2.6 million cash from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited whose directors are said to be Johannes Eshun, Sheila Eshun, and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi who remains a mystery figure.

Among others, he is demanding the immediate resignation of the man of God from the Board of the National Cathedral and a refund by Rev Kusi Boafo for all taxpayers' money diverted to his company.

RESPONSE BY THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT

In the course of the week, the Secretariat of the National Cathedral issued a response that noted that the alleged payment is not illegal but a refund of a short-term interest-free loan made by JNS to top up payments to the National Cathedral contractors.

It also added that this was support sought from Rev Kusi Boateng due to the delay in the receipt of funds to pay the contractors on time.

The Rev.Kusi Boateng has meanwhile denied all wrongdoings per the MP’s allegations.
