An Accra Circuit Court has fined entertainment personality, Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog, an amount of GH¢48,000, after finding him guilty for ‘offensive’ comments he made about President Akufo-Addo over ponzi scheme, Menzgold.

Bulldog in 2021 was arraigned before the court for allegedly saying on the United Showbiz programme that President Nana Akufo-Addo “will not finish his four-year tenure if he failed to pay Menzgold customers.”

He was charged with offensive conduct to the breach of the peace, but pleaded not guilty.

According to the complainant, who was also the second prosecution witness in the course of the trial, the comments by the accused were likely to incite the public against the President, hence her decision to report the issue to the police for investigation.

In his defence, Bulldog maintained that the comments were never intended to threaten the President or breach peace, but instead to appeal to the President’s conscience to help customers of Menzgold.

However, in its judgment, the court said the comments were clearly meant to incite people against the President and that it could also have serious security implications.

In default of the fine, Bulldog may spend 40 days in prison.
