An Accra High Court has granted bail in the sum of GHC 50 000 each to former Ghanaian boxing champion, Braimah Isaac Kamoko, aka “Bukom Banku, and his son, Mustapha Kamoko for allegedly stabbing one Ismael Quaye.

Having pleaded not guilty, both are facing charges of abetment of crime and of causing damage.

According to prosecutors, on November 25, 2022, Bukom Banku and his son, together with one Prosper Quaye attacked and inflicted wounds on the complainant in the case with a broken bottle.

Prosecutors also said one of the accused persons damaged a television set belonging to a witness in the case.

On Tuesday, the defence counsel, Mr Leslie Ennin argued for bail for his clients, indicating that the accused persons have learned some lessons after spending one week in police custody and therefore were prepared to stand trial.

“We pray the court that in the spirit of the season, you will admit my clients to bail… their relatives are all over the court because of the accused persons,” he said.

The matter was therefore adjourned to January 10, 2023.
