Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo has inaugurated a new circuit and distinct court complex at Atebubu, in the Bono-East Region.

The new court complex funded through the Municipal Assembly's internally generated fund has been seen as a welcome undertaking, as it would meet the justice needs of community members, who hitherto had to travel as far as Wenchi or Sunyani to access a circuit court.

At a community sensitisation during the inauguration, Justice Torkornoo reiterated calls against bribery and unprofessional conduct by some court officials, warning that authorities would not hesitate to apply sanctions.

“We must ensure that no one feels discouraged or reluctant to use the law. Sometimes, it is because of the traumatising experiences in court that people do not want to use the court,” she said.

The inauguration was attended by the Judicial Secretary, Justice Cynthia Pamela Koranteng; the Bono East Regional Minister, Kwesi Adu-Gyan; the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atebubu-Amantin, Sanja Nanja and the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V.
