The Obuasi-based Ashantigold Sporting Club Limited has secured an interlocutory injunction at the High Court in Accra against the Ghana Football Association(GFA).

The Football Club was demoted from the Premier League to the Third Division after the Disciplinary Committee of the FA found them guilty of match manipulation in July this year.

In order to find a replacement for the club in the Premier League, the FA decided to organize play-offs between some second-tier clubs but this decision seem not to have gone down well with the Obuasi-based Club

Meanwhile, the new League season dubbed BETPAWA Ghana Premier League was scheduled to commence on September 9 and 10, 2022 at the various league centers.

However, the court order, signed by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi has thus restrained the Ghana Football Association from starting the league as planned in the various league centers.

“It is hereby ordered that Respondents whether by itself, agents, assigns, privies, servants and whosoever be and is hereby restrained from commencing or causing to commence 2022/2023 BETPAWA GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE scheduled from 9th and or 10th September 2022 in any known stadia across the Republic of Ghana.”

The court has further restrained the GFA from allowing or causing to be allowed any play-off match classified under the Ghana Premier League season in any of the stadia across the country.
