Ashaiman soldier murder: Six accused persons remanded again

Six persons who were arrested following the murder of a soldier, Imoro Sheriff at Ashaiman have again been remanded into police custody by an Ashaiman Circuit Court. 

Appearing before the court on Monday, prosecutors again opposed the granting of bail for the accused persons, insisting investigations were still ongoing and that the accused persons are potential flight risks. The prosecution further urged the court not to grant them bail, considering the public interest of the case.

The six, Safianu Musah, Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, Samuel Tetteh, Abubakar Sadick, Yussif Mohammed, and Abdul Gafaru Abdul Karim have been charged with robbery, murder, and dishonest receiving of an item. 

Samuel Tetteh and Abubakar Sadick, who have both been charged with robbery and murder, had no counsel when they appeared before the court presided over by Mr Simon Gaga. The four others, charged with dishonest receiving of an item, were represented by Abdul FatawuAlhassan and Shiabu Mohammed.

22-year-old Imoro Sheriff, a soldier with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) band in Sunyani, the Bono Region was stabbed to death by attackers on March 4, 2023. 

According to police investigations, the soldier was returning from the residence of a female friend at Ashaiman-Taifa and heading towards his home when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Arrested between March 9th and 12th, the accused persons were first remanded on March 13th.
