The Circuit Court at Ashaiman has granted a GHC 150,000 bail to one of six accused persons standing trial over the murder of a soldier, Imoro Sheriff at Ashaiman last month.

Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, who has been charged with dishonestly receiving, was granted bail on health grounds after his lawyer, Mr. Abdul Fatawu Alhassan while moving for bail for his clients (three others including Abdul Rakib) told the court that Mr. Rabib suffers a stomach ulcer condition, which could possibly be aggravated if he's still kept in custody.

His motion was however opposed by police prosecutors, on grounds that where the accused persons are held, is in close proximity to the Police Hospital, and that they had also never reported any health issues to investigators. It was also the prosecution's case that the case be adjourned to enable them to advance investigations.

The court presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga granted bail to Rabik, but declined that of the others and thus directed the Prosecution to file disclosures by April 25, 2023.
