Asamoah Gyan’s ex-wife wanted £ 5,000 monthly, USD 1 M, 50% of properties, businesses as settlement
However, the Honorable court, presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, after the assessment of her substantial contribution to the acquisition of the properties, granted her the UK property and two others.
The High Court (Divorce and Matrimonial Division) has issued a decree of nullity ending the 10-year marriage between Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan and his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.
The court, among others, granted an amount of GHC 25, 000 monthly as a maintenance fee to the ex-wife for the upkeep of the children and several other landed properties.
However, per the cross-petition filed in court in February 2019, Gifty Gyan wanted the court to order Asamoah Gyan to pay a monthly maintenance fee of five thousand pounds (£5,000) and a lump sum of one million United States dollars (USD 1,000,000.00).
Further, Madam Gifty petitioned to be given House No. 40 Harding Way, Macham, as settlement and a 50% share in the following properties:
House Number 15, Oleander Street, East Legon, Accra, is their matrimonial home
House Number 6, Weija, popularly known as the ‘Basilica’
House, popularly known as Baby Jet Heights, situated at East Legon
House at Michel Camp, Tema
Petitioner’s Apartment at West Adenta
Printing Press in Dubai
Warehouse at Manet, Spintex
Rolls Royce Phantom with registration number BJ 3-15; Porsche Cayenne; Mercedes Benz SLK; Mercedes Benz Sprinter Bus with registration number JET 3-16; Black Mercedes Benz V Class with registration number B JET 3-15; Dodge vehicle
Further to the above, Gifty Gyan also wanted 50% interest in the following entities or companies:
Baby Jet Airlines
Jetlink Events and Logistic
Gyan Investment Ghana Limited
Paradise Pac Drinking water
Baby Jet Boxing Promotions
BJ Sports Bar and Restaurant.
However, the Honorable Court, presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, upon the assessment of her substantial contribution to the acquisition of the properties, granted her the UK property, a Gas station at Prampram, a four-bedroom house at Spintex, which was purchased for her before the marriage, and two cars.
