Two persons have been arrested by the security team at the Appiatse Relief Camp, for allegedly stealing mattresses.

The suspects have been handed over to the Bogoso Police, Mr. James Amfo Mensah, the Bogoso Zonal Director for the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) confirmed.

He assured that imposters who infiltrate the camp will be dealt with by the law.

“We are protecting ourselves. We will fish out such criminals because we have data of all of us in the camp,” he said.

The Appiatse Relief Camp was created after the explosion that killed about 17, wounded 179 and left 500 others homeless.

So far, various organisations have taken turns to donate relief items to the camp from time to time.

A seven member reconstruction committee also inaugurated by the government, has been tasked to facilitate the rebuilding of the shattered Appiate township into a modern Ghanaian village community, which is green and sustainable.
