The Anglican Church, Ghana has announced that it has commenced thorough investigations into the circumstances involving one of their priests kissing three female students of the St. Monica’s College of Education during a church service.

Social media went berserk on Monday [August 16] evening when users circulated a video in which the priest was seen committing the act to loud cheers from sections of the students.

It has been alleged that the priest is one Rev. Fr. Obeng Larbi, otherwise known as Father Ricky.

A user, identified as Adomba Kojo Poku alleged that “on Sunday morning, i.e. 15th August 2021, Fr. Larbi honored deserving students with a certificate, sums of money and offered the kisses too…”

However, a news report filed by Accra-based 3News indicates that the Anglican Church says it is saddened by the video and is committed to investigating it thoroughly.

“The Church is saddened by the news and wishes to state expressly that, a thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said Priest would be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the Church”, the church said in an August 17 statement.

Meanwhile, the church has added that it is instituting steps to provide counseling and support to help the students navigate through the experience. One of the students visibly expressed disinterest but eventually yielded as the cheers grew and the Priest drew her close.

The Church noted that “…all efforts are being made to engage the students concerned through counseling sessions to avert any psychological issues that may arise as a result of the viral video”.
