The Ghana Railway Development Authority(GRDA) has indicated that all its actions are consistent with the Act which established it.

They note that its workers were disingenuous in their statement to the effect that it is taking advantage of the same.

The Railway Workers Union, per a statement dated August 11, 2022, made various allegations to the effect that they are being treated unfairly and that the Authority is abusing its powers to their detriment.

However, the Authority notes that the above allegations are pregnant with concerns and lamentations without any proof.

It further notes per its statement signed by Acting Board Secretary, Constant Kafui Kpende that the allegation relative to its handling of matters that touch on scraps of rails and sleepers in the Ashanti Region lies within the law.

Also, “Regarding the issue of duty post bungalows, GRDA discovered that while the affected railway workers assumed duty in Takoradi because of transfer, their families without any justifiable reason continue to live in the referenced bungalows. It was also discovered that some of the occupants have also refused to yield possession of the said bungalows. “

Furthermore, the Authority states that per Section 2(1) of its Act, it has the Authority to exercise ownership rights over assets that are transferred to the Authority from Railway assets. In consequence, it thus lies foul in the mouth of the Railway Workers Union to “cry out loud” that GRDA has taken undue advantage of its Act to injure them.

On the issue of the indebtedness of the company, it noted that the indebtedness is not attributable to it.

The GRDA, therefore, challenged the workers to point out any specific unlawful act
