AG presents 11 names for consideration as Court of Appeal Justices
Among the names for consideration are Justices from the High Court, people from academia, and prominent lawyers.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has submitted 11 names as potential Court of Appeal Justices.
Among the names for consideration are Justices from the High Court, people from academia, and prominent lawyers.
They are; Her Ladyship Afia Serwaa Botwe J, His Lordship Kweku Ackah-Boafo J, Her Ladyship Jennifer Abena Dadzie J, Her Ladyship Gifty Agyei-Addo J, His Lordship Francis Obiri J and His Lordship Stephen Oppong J, all justices from the High Court.
The rest are, Prof. Olivia Anku-Tsede, the Legal Counsel at the University of Ghana and an Associate Professor at the University of Ghana Business School, Mr. Christopher Archer, a lawyer with law firm, Archer, Archer & Co (Chambers), Mr. Charles Zwennes, Managing Partner with law firm, Gaisie Zwennes Hughes & Co, Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaah, Dean of the KNUST Faculty of Law, and Mr. Maxwell Opoku-Agymang, former Director of the Ghana School of Law.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice, Mr. Dame indicated that the submitted names were for the “consideration and advice of the Judicial Council, for the appointment by the President as Justices of the Court of Appeal”, which is in line with article 144 (3) of Ghana’s constitution.
