The Police in Accra have arrested two persons for presenting themselves as Revenue Collection and Disconnection officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The two were allegedly trying to extort money from customers who could not show receipts of recent electricity payments.

They were arrested after some residents found them suspicious, and reported to the district office.

“Their mode of operation, however, got some of the residents suspicious, which made them to demand to see their identification, which proved futile,” the Achimota District Manager of ECG, Mary Kpordzih said.

The suspects, Richard Nii Moi and Edward Quartey are currently held at the Israel Police Station near Sowutuom, assisting in investigations.
