On January 30, the Court of Appeal will deliver its judgment regarding the prosecution's challenge to a High Court order that requires investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to reveal his identity to Kwasi Nyantakyi before testifying in court.

The appeal followed a May 17, 2023, order granted by High Court Justice Marie-Louise Simmons ordering Anas to disclose his identity in private to the accused before testifying in open court while wearing a mask.

Prosecutors, however, went to the Court of Appeal to challenge this order by the High Court.

Kwasi Nyantakyi, the former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), faces charges of fraud and corruption, stemming from allegations brought to light in Anas’ investigative documentary titled Number 12.

His co-accused, Abdulai Alhassan, who once served as the GFA's Northern Regional representative, is charged with conspiracy to commit fraud. Both individuals have denied the allegations.

The case at the High Court has meanwhile been adjourned to February 13, 2025, in line with the upcoming Court of Appeal decision.
