The Wa Magistrates Court has remanded into police custody, Abdul Rahman Yunusah, a businessman and former team manager of football club Wa All Stars for allegedly shooting to death a retired lecturer of the Hilla Limann Technical University and injuring four others.

The accused is facing charges of two counts of murder, and three counts of causing harm, contrary to Sections 46 and 49 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

He was arrested over a land dispute between his family and that of the deceased.

The accused reportedly told the police that he shot the deceased at self defence.

Police Prosecutor, ASP John Baidoo asked that the court remands the accused to enable the police conclude their investigations.

He also informed the court that one of the injured persons who was admitted at the Wa Municipal Hospital had died.

The court, presided over by  Maxwell Titriku, therefore, remanded the accused, rejecting a plea for bail by Mr. Yunusah’s lawyers.

The case was adjourned to March 25, 2022.
