First Lady Melania Trump is threatening to sue Hunter Biden for more than $1 billion, accusing him of defamation after he claimed she was introduced to Donald Trump by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a legal letter to Biden’s attorney, Melania’s lawyers described the allegation as “false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory,” demanding a public retraction and apology. They argue the claim—made during a recent interview—has caused her “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.”

Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, had told filmmaker Andrew Callaghan earlier this month that unreleased Epstein-related documents would “implicate” Trump and that “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump.”

The statement, according to her legal team, relied on a now-retracted Daily Beast article. The outlet removed the story and apologized after the First Lady’s attorneys challenged its accuracy.

Melania’s lawyers accuse Biden of “trading on the names of others” to draw attention to himself. Her aide, Nick Clemens, said the First Lady’s legal team is pursuing immediate retractions from “those who spread malicious, defamatory falsehoods.”

Melania has consistently maintained she met Trump at a modeling industry party in 1998—long after his friendship with Epstein had ended. There is no public evidence linking Epstein to their introduction.

The dispute comes amid renewed public pressure for the release of so-called “Epstein files.” While Trump has promised transparency if re-elected, U.S. authorities insist no incriminating client list exists.
