A man believed to be head of a Royal Family at Boadi in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Kwabena Badu has filed a human right action at the High Court against the Ghana Police Service for his unlawful arrest by its officers.

According to him, following his arrest by officers of the Manhyia Palace police station, neither was he interrogated nor was his Caution Statement taken.

He adds that contrary to this, he was rather subjected to torture, humiliation, and embarrassment without being processed for court.

The plaintiff avers that per the above, his liberty, human dignity, right against unlawful arrest, etc have been violated by the officers.

He is therefore seeking among others a declaration by the court to the effect that the arrest was unconstitutional.

Also, he seeks an order directed at the police service to pay him an amount of GH¢500,000 as compensation for his unlawful arrest.

A further GH¢500,000 is being sought by the applicant as compensation for his inconvenience, embarrassment, waste of time, and violation of his fundamental human right.
