The Prestea District Police Command has arrested four men — two military officers and two civilians — after foiling an attempted armed robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Obouhu, Prestea.
According to police sources, the incident occurred late on Sunday, September 28, 2025, when a six-member gang stormed the company premises between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Security officers on duty quickly alerted management and the police, leading to a swift response that thwarted the attack.
Out of the six suspects, two civilians managed to flee, while the remaining four were subdued and taken into custody. They were later transferred to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigation.
The gang allegedly used a new Toyota pickup truck (registration GN 6116-25), which has since been seized by police investigators.
Witnesses at the mining site reported that the assailants assaulted company security personnel in an attempt to break into the firm’s gold room, but their plan was disrupted before they could gain entry.
Police say a manhunt is underway to apprehend the two suspects still at large.
