Two remanded over robbery, murder of 15-year-old housekeeper at Aduman
The suspects — Sani Abacha (28) and Asante Eric (23) — were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of a 15-year-old housekeeper at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality.
The suspects — Sani Abacha (28) and Asante Eric (23) — were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, on provisional charges of robbery and murder. They have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 25, 2025.
According to police investigations, the incident occurred on October 19, 2025, after the complainant parked his tricycle and travelled to Kumasi. Upon returning, he discovered that both his tricycle and his two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira (18) and Kwabena Boateng (15), were missing.
A police statement revealed that Abacha had plotted to steal the tricycle and lured the victims under the guise of transporting firewood. He later attacked both victims with a cutlass, severely wounding them before fleeing with the tricycle.
Investigations indicated that Abacha subsequently enlisted Eric’s help to hide the vehicle at the Aboabogya Cemetery, where they sold it to a third suspect known only as Balawe, who is currently at large.
The next morning, residents found Yankyira unconscious in a nearby cocoa farm and rushed him to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso, while Boateng’s body was later discovered with similar cutlass wounds.
Police have since recovered a cutlass used in the attack and conveyed the deceased’s body for autopsy.
Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu through an intelligence-led operation and led police to apprehend Eric at Aboabogya. Both have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Authorities are still pursuing Balawe and have urged the public to share any information by contacting the nearest police station or calling 191, 18555, or 112.
