Two remanded over GH¢60,000 theft at Manso-Nweneso
The accused persons, Desmond Ayensu, 26, and Frank Osei Bonsu, 27, were put before the court on charges of conspiracy, causing damage and stealing.
Two friends accused of breaking into a businessman’s room and stealing GH¢60,000 have been remanded by the Toase District Court in the Ashanti Region.
The accused persons, Desmond Ayensu, 26, and Frank Osei Bonsu, 27, were put before the court on charges of conspiracy, causing damage and stealing.
Their pleas were not taken.
The court, presided over by Robert Addo, remanded them into police custody.
They are expected to reappear on July 7, 2026.
According to the prosecution, the incident happened at Manso-Nweneso in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.
Police Chief Inspector Ntim Boadu told the court that the complainant, Evander Frimpong, is a businessman and resident of Nweneso.
The two accused persons, who are also residents of the area, are said to be small-scale miners.
The prosecution said the complainant had left for church on a Sunday in November 2025 when the alleged incident occurred.
While he was away, the two friends allegedly conspired and went to his room.
They are accused of dismantling his window to gain access to the room.
The prosecution said they allegedly stole GH¢60,000 in cash from the room.
Chief Inspector Boadu told the court that Ayensu allegedly fled the town after the incident.
He was later arrested by the Foase Police after returning to the area in connection with another offence.
During interrogation, Ayensu allegedly admitted the theft and mentioned Frank Osei Bonsu as his accomplice.
Police then carried out preliminary investigations.
The two were subsequently charged and brought before the court.
The case has been adjourned to July 7, 2026.
