The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced two men to lengthy prison terms for their involvement in a series of violent robberies that shook the Upper West Regional capital.

Abdulai Ibrahim, 34, popularly known as Baba, and Abdulai Kipo, 36, were convicted of conspiracy and multiple counts of robbery after being found guilty of launching coordinated armed attacks across various neighbourhoods in Wa.

Presiding Judge His Honour Jonathan Avoogo handed Ibrahim a 28-year sentence with hard labour, while Kipo received 18 years behind bars.

Their convictions mark the culmination of weeks of painstaking investigations led by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate. Police say the men were behind a wave of assaults in areas including Napogbakole, Danko, SSNIT, and Konta—communities within the Wa Municipality that had been gripped by fear.

The Upper West Regional Police Command welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as a significant win in the fight against organised crime. “This ruling reflects our unwavering resolve to uphold justice and public safety,” the Command said in an official statement.

Authorities further assured the public of ongoing efforts to root out criminal networks and enhance security in the region. “The Command remains committed to building a secure environment for all residents and will continue to act decisively against criminal activity,” the statement added.

The convictions are expected to bring some relief to residents, as law enforcement pledges to remain vigilant in protecting communities from similar threats.
