Two jailed 36 years for robbery
Maxmillian Foli, also known as Thug, admitted guilt to charges of conspiracy and robbery. He was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to 21 years in prison.
The Kwadaso Circuit Court has handed two men a combined 36-year prison sentence in the Ashanti Region for plotting and violently robbing a taxi driver at Atwima Kwanwoma.
Maxmillian Foli, also known as Thug, admitted guilt to charges of conspiracy and robbery. He was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to 21 years in prison. His accomplice, Blessing Ohe, alias Demon, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and received 15 years.
Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court, presided over by Jephthah Appau, that the victim, Emmanuel Poku, a taxi driver from Bokankye near Asuoyeboa, had his vehicle and belongings stolen by the accused, both residents of Atwima-Akyeremade.
On August 28, 2025, around 4:00 pm, the pair met to plot their attack, deciding to use scissors as their weapon. Later that evening, Foli hired Poku’s taxi at Sofoline under the pretense of traveling to Akyeremade. Along the way, he picked up Ohe. The driver became suspicious and diverted the route toward Kwanwoma, but just before entering the town, Foli stabbed him in the back with the scissors and ordered him out of the car.
The attackers fled with the vehicle, the day’s earnings, a car stereo, and the driver’s Samsung A20 phone. They later abandoned the taxi near Sofoline.
A police report was lodged at Denchemmuoso, leading to Ohe’s arrest the same night, during which a pair of scissors was found on him. Foli was captured days later at his hideout in Kwanwoma. Both men confessed during interrogation and were charged accordingly.
