Two brothers arrested over fatal shooting at Weija
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon.
Two brothers have been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command after a 54-year-old man was shot dead and his wife injured at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon.
They were arrested with support from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team following the incident on August 6, 2026.
The deceased, Mohammed Rahman, and his 53-year-old wife, Christiana Fosu, were found outside their four-bedroom apartment with gunshot wounds.
They were rushed to Finney Hospital at Weija, where Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife was later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Police say she is currently on admission and responding to treatment.
Rahman’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
According to police, Adams Adder Almeida admitted during interrogation that he shot the couple.
He allegedly told investigators that he acted because he believed Rahman had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless.”
Police said the suspect claimed the remarks had affected him mentally.
Investigators later recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.
Police said Adams led them to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where the weapon was found beneath a well drop.
Investigations have established that Adams and his brother, Bala Bilyon, lived together in the same room at Tuba.
Police also said Bala Bilyon worked with the deceased.
Adams allegedly told investigators that the pistol had been given to him by a friend identified only as Gideon.
He later led police to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but Gideon was not found.
Police say efforts are underway to locate him.
Bala Bilyon remains in custody assisting investigations as police continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
