Two arrested over Kwafokrom filling station robbery

Two people have been arrested after an armed robbery attack at Kwafokrom, near Nsawam, in the Eastern Region.

The Eastern South Regional Police Command identified the suspects as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei.

Police say the attack happened on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

A third suspect, known only as Ashivie, is currently on the run.

According to the police, the robbers attacked a filling station and shot a security officer and a pump attendant who had taken cover in an office.

The two injured victims are receiving treatment and are said to be in stable condition.

Police say the suspects allegedly escaped with GH¢13,460 and assorted provisions whose value is yet to be established.

Following the arrests, officers retrieved several items believed to have been used in the attack.

They include an Alder Tupal pump-action gun with serial number 245A-12944, an electronic shocker, a cutlass and a bulletproof vest.

A search of the crime scene also led to the discovery of 19 spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition.

The Police Command says efforts are continuing to arrest Ashivie and any other accomplices.

Residents have been urged to remain calm as police work with filling station managers to strengthen security and prevent similar attacks.
