Two arrested in Bono East with suspected cannabis haul
The suspects, Sadick Wemuah, 42, and Senbeti Karim, 39, were picked up on Saturday, 26 April 2026, near Kintampo during what police described as a routine patrol operation.
Police in the Bono East Region have arrested two men after a patrol team intercepted a vehicle carrying a large quantity of dried plant material suspected to be cannabis.
The suspects, Sadick Wemuah, 42, and Senbeti Karim, 39, were picked up on Saturday, 26 April 2026, near Kintampo during what police described as a routine patrol operation.
According to the Bono East Regional Police Command, officers from the New Longoro Police Station stopped an unregistered white Toyota Highlander along the New Longoro-Weila stretch of the Kintampo-New Longoro road at about 12:40pm.
A search of the vehicle, police said, uncovered two sacks containing 166 parcels of the suspected substance.
Both men were arrested at the scene and later taken to the Kintampo Divisional CID for further investigation.
Police say that during questioning, the two admitted that the substance was cannabis and claimed ownership of it.
Investigators said the suspects told them they had bought the consignment from a man identified only as Edem, also known as “Confirm”, and had collected it at a filling station near Kintampo’s new market.
According to the police account, the men intended to transport the drugs to Banda Nkwanta in the Bono Region for sale.
The command put the street value of the seized substance at GH¢107,000.
Police say the suspected cannabis, together with the unregistered Toyota Highlander, has been retained as evidence, while the two men remain in custody to assist with investigations.
The Bono East Regional Police Command says efforts are ongoing to trace other persons linked to the case, including the alleged supplier.
