Police say two men, including the suspected leader of the group, have been arrested over the armed robbery attack on a bus carrying Berekum Chelsea players, an incident that left one footballer dead.

One of the suspects was shot during an exchange with police intelligence officers and is currently receiving treatment under guard, according to the latest update from the Ghana Police Service.

The arrests come days after the violent ambush on Sunday, 12 April, along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyanihin District.

Investigators say six armed robbers targeted the team bus and opened fire, causing panic on board. The driver reportedly lost control during the attack, sending the vehicle off the road and into nearby bushes.

Police believe the assailants were carrying pump-action guns and say operations are still underway to locate the rest of the group.

For now, the service says the investigation remains active and has assured the public that all those involved in the attack will be pursued and brought to justice.
