Trump Orders Focused Deportations in Democratic Cities Amid Immigration Protests
In a statement posted on social media Sunday, Trump urged U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to carry out what he described as the “largest mass deportation program in history.”
U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed federal immigration authorities to concentrate their deportation efforts in Democratic-led cities, following a wave of protests denouncing his immigration agenda.
In a statement posted on social media Sunday, Trump urged U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to carry out what he described as the “largest mass deportation program in history.” He singled out cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago—urban centers with large undocumented populations—as top priorities.
“To meet this historic objective,” he wrote, “ICE must intensify its operations in America’s biggest cities, where millions of illegal aliens live.”
Trump’s announcement follows a period of increased immigration enforcement and coincides with remarks from White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. Miller, who has long shaped Trump’s immigration strategy, revealed that the administration aims to ramp up arrests to 3,000 per day—a significant leap from the roughly 650 daily arrests earlier in Trump’s second term.
Despite this aggressive push, the administration has reportedly ordered a pause on enforcement actions at certain businesses, including farms, restaurants, and hotels. This move, according to a government insider, was prompted by Trump’s concern over how raids might hurt key industries.
The renewed focus on urban deportations marks a dramatic escalation in Trump’s already hardline immigration policy and is expected to fuel further debate and resistance in Democratic jurisdictions.
