A petty trader, Isha Fuseni, was convicted on June 8, 2021 by the Hohoe Magistrate Court to the sum of GH¢ 1,440 for putting up a house without a development permit.

She was also ordered to pay a sum of GH¢ 800 as compensation to the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.

Fuseni, who pleaded guilty in court, was convicted on her own plea and would serve eight months imprisonment if she defaults in the payment of the fines.

The Prosecutor, Mr Frank Azila-Gbettor, told the court presided over by Madam Edith Lucy Dzormeku that the convict was constructing a house at Gbi-Bla (New Abattoir Road).

He said the Hohoe Municipal Development Control Taskforce, on official duty to check development projects on January 15, 2020, realised the convict had put up a building at the said location without a development permit.

According to the Prosecutor, Fuseni was educated, asked to stop work and obtain a permit for the structure but refused.

The convict was then served a warning letter on August 13, 2020, to produce permit documents within two weeks but also failed to do so.

Mr.Azila-Gbettor again revealed to the court that Fuseni had already built and occupied a 3-unit hall and chamber house on the said location, without a prior permit.

After Isha Fuseini refused to appear in court, he was arrested on May 10, 2021and brought to court on a bench warrant.
