Tourism Authority closes down more than six hospitality centres in Ahafo Region
The move is part of an exercise to deal with non-compliant facilities.
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has closed down six hotels and other eatries in the Ahafo Region for operating without regulatory permits.
The Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East Regional Director of Authority, Joseph Appiagyei says the defaulting facilities were given countless notices before the closure move.
The move is part of an exercise to deal with non-compliant facilities.
Leading a team made up of personnel from the Ghana Police Service also, Mr. Appiagyei said the facilities had seven days to prove compliance, or they face court.
Recently, the Tourism Authority found some facilities in the Eastern Region to be in violation of L.I. 2238 and L. I. 2239 of the Tourism Regulations 2016. About 12 eatery and hospitality facilities were closed down for operating without a GTA operational license, while others had expired licenses.
