Two women accused of making abusive remarks about President John Dramani Mahama in relation to the August 6 helicopter crash broke down in tears as they appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court for the second time.

The accused, 29-year-old National Service Person Priscilla Duah Birago and 29-year-old beautician Charity Dede Tetteh, have both pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, offensive conduct, and breach of the peace.

Prosecutors allege the two women conspired during a TikTok live session to make inflammatory comments, including claims that “we would have been happier if President Mahama had been involved in the helicopter crash and dwarfs had eaten him.”

In court, Defence Counsel Samuel Kwesi Agyei urged the judge to grant the accused bail, arguing that they had already spent several days in custody, had learned their lesson, and could not interfere with investigations since their mobile phones were seized by police.

Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, however, opposed the bail request, insisting that investigations were ongoing and that police were seeking a High Court order to extract videos from the suspects’ phones.

Presiding judge Mrs Angela Attachie ordered that the women remain in remand custody until September 4, 2025, when the case will be heard again. Prosecutors disclosed that forensic evidence from the TikTok livestream has been secured to support the case.
