Three nabbed over suspected murder of teenager in Nhyiaeso

Police in the Ashanti Region have retrieved the mutilated body of a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly butchered to death by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at Nhyiaeso, a town in the Ananekrom Electoral Area.

The body was recovered on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, residents of the town have arrested three suspects who are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

A news report filed by Accra based 3news indicates that the victim was drawing water from a stream at Nhyiaeso in the company of his two other siblings when the suspects ambushed them, wielding their cutlasses.

The deceased, identified as David Anariya was unable to escape although his siblings managed to bolt from the scene. David sustained severe cutlass wounds and bled to death.

The Chairman of the Asante Akyem North Municipal Security Council, Francis Oti Boateng told 3news that “the situation is under control because the suspects have been captured.”

He added that “proper prosecutorial processes” had been instituted “to put the suspects behind bars to deter the recurrence of such acts.”

The suspects have been identified as Umaru Mohammed, 24; Major Gariba, 28; Mohammed Umaru, 23.
