Three commercial motorbike riders accused of robbery have been granted bail of GH¢50,000 each with two sureties by the Amasaman Circuit Court.

The court, presided over by Enid Marful-Sau, ordered that the sureties be justified with title deed documents, while the accused deposit their valid national identity cards with the court’s registry.

The suspects—18-year-old Richard Lamptey, also known as Patapa; 24-year-old Bright Guamah, alias Barrister; and 23-year-old Michael Tetteh, known as Passward—pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and robbery. They are scheduled to appear in court again on April 2, 2025.

According to Police Chief Inspector Benjamin Arthur, the incident occurred in Dome Sampaman, Accra, on October 23, 2024, around 4:00 AM. The complainant, Madam Yaa Horsu, a food vendor, was walking to the market with three others when three men on an unregistered motorbike, armed with machetes, confronted them. The attackers allegedly threatened to harm her if she did not hand over her belongings.

The assailants made away with her mobile phone and GH¢6,400 in cash before fleeing. Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, and during interrogation, Tetteh allegedly confessed to planning the robbery with Lamptey and Guamah. Following investigations, the three were arraigned before the court.
