Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault.
Partey, 32, appeared in court on Tuesday, facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women. The alleged offences reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022.
The Ghanaian international has denied all allegations. His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, reaffirmed his position, stating that Partey "denies all the charges against him" and looks forward to "the opportunity to finally clear his name."
The Metropolitan Police charged Partey in July, just four days after he left Premier League side Arsenal. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the midfielder is expected to continue his football career and is reportedly close to signing with La Liga club Villarreal. However, some fans have criticised Villarreal for pursuing the player amid the charges.
Partey remains free on bail and is cooperating with authorities as he awaits further legal proceedings.
