Thomas Partey charged with multiple sexual offences
The 32-year-old, who resides in Hertfordshire, is accused of committing the offences against three different women between 2021 and 2022.
Former Arsenal and Ghanaian international midfielder Thomas Partey has been formally charged with multiple sexual offences, including five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The 32-year-old, who resides in Hertfordshire, is accused of committing the offences against three different women between 2021 and 2022.
According to authorities, two rape charges involve one complainant, three relate to a second woman, and the sexual assault charge concerns a third.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5. “These charges stem from an investigation launched in February 2022 after police received an initial report of rape,” the police statement noted.
Partey, who recently departed Arsenal following the expiration of his contract, had been linked with potential transfers to clubs such as Juventus, Barcelona, and Fenerbahce. He joined the North London side in 2020 from Atletico Madrid and spent five years at the Emirates Stadium.
Though his time at Arsenal was frequently interrupted by injuries, Partey managed to make 35 appearances and score four goals last season. He has also been a key figure for Ghana’s national team over the years.
The case is expected to draw significant attention as the legal process unfolds.
