The accused persons, Isaac Odoi, 33, and Kwame Mani, 39, appeared before the court presided over by Justice Cynthia Wiredu, a High Court judge sitting as an additional Circuit Court judge.
Two men arrested with more than 1,600 parcels of suspected narcotic substances have been remanded into police custody by the Tema Circuit Court B.
The accused persons, Isaac Odoi, 33, and Kwame Mani, 39, appeared before the court presided over by Justice Cynthia Wiredu, a High Court judge sitting as an additional Circuit Court judge.
They have been ordered to reappear on 28 January 2026, while police continue their investigations.
Prosecutors told the court that the arrests followed a coordinated intelligence operation by the Tema Regional Police Command along the Akosombo–Tema road.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Kraku Mensah said officers received information on 10 January 2026 that a consignment of suspected narcotic drugs was being transported from the Volta Region towards Tema.
Surveillance teams were deployed along the route, with particular attention paid to the Agomeda Junction area.
At about 00:45 hours on 11 January 2026, police intercepted two vehicles:
A white Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 2013-13
A black Mitsubishi Pajero with registration number GC 400-22
Both vehicles were allegedly being driven by the accused persons.
A search of the vehicles uncovered several compressed, yellow-wrapped parcels suspected to be narcotic drugs.
According to the prosecution:
872 parcels were found in the Mitsubishi Pajero
741 parcels were found in the Toyota Highlander
In total, 1,613 parcels were seized.
Odoi and Mani were arrested at the scene, and the vehicles were escorted to the police station for further action.
On 12 January 2026, the exhibits and suspects were handed over to the Tema Regional CID, where photographs and an inventory of the seized items were taken.
The case has been adjourned as investigations continue.
