Tarkwa: 10 arrested over clash between mining groups

The Police in Tarkwa have arrested 10 suspects for their involvement in a clash between two small-scale mining groups on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred following a long-standing dispute over a mining concession.

One person died, while four others seriously injured, have been admitted to the Tarkwa Government Hospital. 

The Western Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, who confirmed the arrests, said the suspects are in the custody of the police, as more investigations are being conducted into the incident.

Police said they found two foreign pistols, three pairs of scissors, two jackknives, and three spent BB cartridges at the scene of the incident. 

Two vehicles, with registration numbers, GN 401-19 and GN 8700-13 respectively have also been impounded to assist the police in their investigations.
