A police operation in the Eastern Region has led to the arrest of a man accused of attacking a woman at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua and later hiding at Awukugwa near Adukrom.

The suspect, Isaac Anim, was picked up on Friday, June 26, after intelligence gathered by the Regional Police Intelligence Department led officers to his hideout.

Police say the case was first reported on June 15, 2026.

According to the Eastern Regional Police Command, the victim was robbed of an iPhone 11, $200 and a pack of food during the attack.

The suspect is also alleged to have sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

Investigators later traced him to Awukugwa, where he was arrested.

A search after the arrest led to the recovery of the victim’s phone.

Police say the suspect had allegedly used the phone and the victim’s SIM card to withdraw money fraudulently from a mobile money vendor.

He has since been transferred to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit to assist with investigations.

Police say preliminary checks have linked Isaac Anim to six other cases.

Those cases include robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl at Okorase.

The Command says investigations are continuing to establish the full extent of the suspect’s alleged involvement in the cases.

It has assured residents that it remains committed to protecting lives and property and pursuing persons involved in violent crimes.
